It’s not all about cars says Kia Motors Corporation as it teases the K-Velo electric bike!
Known for producing stylish and high quality cars and SUVs, the automaker is returning to their roots teasing an electric bicycle, called K-Velo.
Kia is an established automaker, selling millions of vehicles each year, but not many people know that the company started as a bicycle producer back in 1944!
K-Velo Electric Bicycle
Scheduled to make its official debut at the up-coming 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the K-Velo e-bike is propelled by a 250-watt electric motor, developed by Bosch.
At the Geneva Motor Show, Kia will display two versions of the K-Velo bike, including a “City” model, which provides a range of up to 70 km (43 miles)and the MTB version with up to 50 km (31 miles) range.
Kia says, the K-Velo electric bicycle was designed and developed at the automaker’s research & development center in South Korea.
It features a state-of-the-art monocoque metal frame and weighs approximately 20 kg (44 lbs) in both City and MTB guises.
According to the company, the K-Velo reaches a top speed of 25 km/h (15 mph).
At this point, it is not known whether the South Korean carmaker plans to bring the K-Velo e-bike to the serial mass production.
